In 2018 the electric vehicle will gain momentum

If you are still believing that the combustion engine will exist forever you are completely missing what is going on in our world today. All big OEM’s are scrambling to close the gap between them and the newcomers.

At first they laughed at the Tesla Speedstar and didn’t take it seriously, not even after Elon Musk on August 2nd, 2006 very cheeky posted his “The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (just between you and me)”. He literary wrote:

Tesla's Master Plan I in short

Like nobody would read it. Sure, do you believe that? No. The effect was that everybody was warned, but it is just like with warning kids not to go close to the water: they fall in.
And then of course last year he couldn’t resist. On july 20th, 2016 he published his “Master Plan, Part Deux”.

Signs on the wall

“English online Newspaper The Economist posted on October the 18th their video “Electric cars will come of age in 2018”

Quote: “For the first time they will compete in price and performance with petrol and diesel cars. But in the year ahead we will also be confronted with some uncomfortable truths about going electric.

2018 is set to be the year the world fully embraces the electric car. We’ll see a global tipping point for drivers as electric models start competing with petrol and diesel cars head-to-head.”

Point taken. Is there anything to say after this 6 minute video other than: Are the car manufactures ready to answer to the coming demand? We don’t think so. They will, anno 2018, never have the production capacity to fulfil the wishes of their customers. So how is the market going to react? Will them biggies be fast enough or are they dramatically going to fail and at the end go bust?

We will know in a year or some more.
